📦 Use a Barcode Scanner on the POS and in Product Setup

A hardware barcode scanner adds items on the POS and opens or starts products in product setup.

📝 On the POS

1. Make sure a shift is open. Scanning with no shift shows There is no opening shift, please start the shift first and opens the shift dialog instead.
2. Scan the item's barcode, or type the code into the search box — search also runs an exact barcode match alongside the name search.
3. The scan prefers an in-stock match and adds it straight to the order. A sold-out match shows a Sold Out notice; no match at all shows No product found for {code}.

📝 In product setup

1. Go to MANAGEMENT → Product → Item.
2. Scan a barcode: if a product already carries that code — even a delisted one — it opens for editing. If no product has that code, a new product starts with Barcode pre-filled.

💡 Tip: Turn on SETTINGS → General Settings → Product → Hide Barcoded Items to keep barcoded products off the POS grid — search and scanning still find them.
